The DGs are staying at the Langham (formerlu the Huntington), a landmark hotel that just happens to place them along the long Saturday running route they used to do from their South Pasadena home. Demonstrating a half full approach (we can walk together – probably the first real walk since the female DG’s Achilles tendon surgery) rather than displaying a “oh-those-were-the-good-days-poor-us” attitude, they set out on a walk around the neighborhood which is lined with gracious homes, many of which were built in the early 20th century. They don’t know if they’re just lucky but the views to the mountains have been crystal clear ever since they arrived; a hotel concierge says that this is the way it is now, thanks to increased emissions controls. There were lots of Halloween decorations along the way, but none as elaborate as in the front gate and interior courtyard of one house on Oak Knoll Avenue that was chock a block with ghouls and ghosts in movie set proportions. And by the way, it’s looking like a spectacular night for party.
