First Blush: Along the banks of a lake that’s without water most of the time

The female Dawn Jogger has been jogging around Lake Lagunita for 20 years now. In the early years, it would actually be a lake for about half the year. But even before Stanford declared it’s no longer a recreational lake, there’s been much less water over the past decade. Still, somehow, the boats have endured. The kayak she spotted this morning may just have been one of the last of the floating vessels to be paddled around the sort of full lake earlier this spring. It had been sitting on the dry lakebed until a few mornings ago when someone – for whatever reason – dragged it to high ground. Life around the lake has been an enduring treasure of little moments…
