It’s a Christmas filled with Grace

Christmas morning 2010

No surprise – good cheer is plentiful when a three-year-old in the house. Especially one that is eager to open one present at a time and spend time playing with the new loot. The big gift from Santa was the DVD Alladin – the only thing Grace had asked for. But there were tons of other fun stuff, including a doctor kit she made good use of by checking Mommy, including “listening” for little brother. But the real giggles came when Grace herself decided to become a present. It’s been a lovely morning…

Snowflakes and drummer boys – oh so cute!

Last night, the female Dawn Jogger went to the East Bay to attend Grace’s preschool Christmas party with her parents. The minute we arrived, Grace was whisked behind closed doors. We were told they’d all be getting into their costumes and doing some last minute rehearsing.

The gathered group of adoring parents and grandparents were treated to a sing-a-long featuring little drummer boys and snow flakes (“On your toes, girls,” Ms. Irene encouraged the performers.”) Need we mention how cute they all looked and how earnestly they sang…

It’s time to celebrate being three years old!

The female Dawn Jogger drove over to Pump It Up in Oakland this morning where Grace celebrated her third birthday with her contemporaries in huge bouncey houses and climbing up and sliding down huge inflatable slides. No birthday party is complete without the singing of Happy Birthday. Grace was serenaded sitting in a big inflatable throne. Cousin Leah has always called her Princess Grace…

There’s Grace at the zoo

Grace turned three years old today and the female Dawn Jogger joined her parents, along with friend Christine, for an outing to the Oakland Zoo (a fabulous place for the preschool set!). She knows the zoo by heart and was eager to get to the lily pads (they’re not real but perfect for scampering over water). And of course, there were presents to open, including this gator chair. And yes, Grace is all about living…

When it comes to witching time, there’s Grace

If ever there was a girl just a few days short of her third birthday ready for Halloween, her name was Grace. Her good parents had rehearsed with her many times the drill: “Trick or Treat” and then “Thank you,” so much so that she was confident enough to walk up to a door and ring the bell all by herself. Back at the DG’s house, there were many cheerleaders. The post Halloween high – Grace running in circles over and over again – tuckered out even Lily the dog. The jack-o-lanterns are smiling for the missed male DG…

There’s Grace in Halloween

After a dawn jog out in Arastradero Preserve, the female Dawn Jogger and son John spent the morning going through the growing tributes to the male Dawn Jogger. Totally overwhelmingly and awesome. And so comforting to read the words of the many lives the male DJ touched.

In the afternoon they turned their attention to the much anticipated Pumpkin Patch preschool party and performance. A chorus line of 12 preschoolers each stood on an individual rug square and sang a medley of Halloween themed songs to the enthusiastic applause of the gathered parents and grandparents. Need she comment on how cute the witch is…

A walk in the rain brings Grace

Grace and the gang arrived a little before noon, along with the first rainfall of the season. All the better to talk a walk, do some puddle sloshing, and look at the neighborhood Halloween decorations. She’s brought her witch costume to show the male DG, aka Grandpa Chrissy…
