First Blush: Whither lake, whither ducklings?


Just before the female DJ left to go to Ameugny, she spotted the first crop of ducklings at Lake Lagunita. A month later, there’s no sign of ducklings – not a surprise given that there’s no lake either. Just a smidgen of water remains along with four ducks spotted grazing in the grass. The lake bed reeds look higher than usual this year…

First Blush: Rows of roses for life


Some people have asked the female DG if she’s going to start First Blush again, her blog about jogging a dawn. For now she thinks she’ll handle it this way, tagging relevant posts First Blush and putting it in the Dawn Patrol category. (There are only so many blogs she can handle – and this one has moved beyond her early morning ventures out.)

One of the fun things about doing First Blush was coming upon the unexpected. Such was the case today. Jogging across the Stanford campus she came upon a group of students setting up rows of white roses on the White Plaza lawn. An inquiry revealed that they were part to Stanford Students for Life. Their work was undoubtedly completed by the time of the rest of the student body arose.
