After the morning service at Taize, the DGs made their way to a village just to the east of them, Chazelle, to visit fellow hyperlocal bloggers CeesVan Halderan and Sue Nixon who moved to Southern Burgundy in 2005 and run a gites and camping operation called La Tuilerie de Chazelle in what was once a tile factory. They didn’t actually realize that they were doing hyperlocal, rather just talking about their life in this region. They’re transplanted fans, sort of like the DGs, except they’ve made the jump for good.

Then it was into Cluny for a gallette lunch. Because the male DG had his telephoto lens with him, they stopped on the way into town to photograph the oh-so-cute mares and foals in the pasture adjacent to where the big deal horse show is going on. In past years, the female DG has figured they time the births to coincide with the show, rotating mares…
